Plasmodium falciparum?

Correct!  Well done.

The rather classical marginal form towards the bottom of this field should have helped but did you recognise the P falciparum schizont in the centre of the field?  These schizonts are not commonly seen and if you are not familiar with them, it is worth taking a second look and comparing with the "daisy-head" schizonts of P.malariae in the Diagnosis section.

Plasmodium vivax?

Sorry!  Try again.

The infected red cells are not enlarged.

Take another look and note particularly the features of the lower of the two, with which you should be familiar by now.

Plasmodium ovale?

Sorry!

The infected red cells are not enlarged.

Take another look and note particularly the features of the lower of the two, with which you should be familiar by now.

Plasmodium malariae?

Sorry!  Look again.

Even though the infected red cells are not enlarged, take another look noting especially the smaller of the two parasites in this field.  The characteristic features should help you.
