Plasmodium falciparum?

Sorry! Have another try.
Even though the infected red cells do not appear to be enlarged, the parasites are much thicker than one would expect with P. falciparum and appear to be developing forms.
Have another look and note particularly the shape of the infected red cell which may give you a clue.

Plasmodium ovale?

Correct! Well done.
Good work. Even though the infected red cells do not appear to be enlarged, the tell tale comet shape and slightly fimbriated edges obviously pointed you in the right direction.
