Plasmodium falciparum?

Correct!  Excellent work.

Thought we would have a change from gametocytes and have some fun with thick films, which are rarely easy.

Did you notice how small the rings were in comparison to the neutrophil?

Plasmodium vivax?

Sorry!  Try again.

Compared with the neutrophil the numerous malarial rings are quite tiny, even though the chromatin dot is quite prominent.

Have another look and try again.

Sorry!  Take another look.

Even though thick films are rarely easy, there are numerous ring forms in this field.  Have another look and try again.
