Plasmodium vivax?

Sorry!  Good effort but try again.

You obviously noticed that the infected red cell containing this gametocyte is enlarged.  Have another look at the images in the Diagnosis section and then try again.

Plasmodium ovale?

Correct!  Excellent work.

We thought this was rather a nice gametocyte, even though
the history may be slightly misleading (P.ovale is found
in some parts of Southern India).

Plasmodium malariae?

Sorry!  Have another try.

Note the size and shape of the infected red cell containing this gametocyte.  Have another look at the images in the Diagnosis section and then try again.

Malarial parasites not seen?

Sorry!  Try again.

There is a rather prominent parasite in the centre of this field.  Have another look at the images in the Diagnosis section and then try again paying particular attention to the size and shape of the infected red cell.
