Plasmodium falciparum?

Correct!  Top effort.

Even with only one rather faintly stained parasite in this
field you were still able to correctly identify P. falciparum.

Did you notice that the infected red cell is not
enlarged and the double chromatin dot?

Plasmodium vivax?

Sorry!  Try again.

Have another look and note the size of the infected red cell and the size of the parasite.  There is also one other quite classical feature which should be of help.

If necessary go back to the Diagnosis section to remind yourself of the prominent features for each of the four Plasmodium species.
