Plasmodium falciparum?

Sorry!  Have another try.

The two infected red cells in this field are both enlarged and the parasites show characteristic features.  Have another look and try again.

Plasmodium vivax?

Correct!  Good work.

Not the best stained film we have ever seen, however you were still able to identify the two developing forms of P. vivax in the enlarged red cells.

Plasmodium ovale?

Sorry!  A good effort.

Admittedly not the best stained film we have ever seen and you correctly noted that the infected red cells were enlarged.  Take another look and note particularly the history.

Plasmodium malariae?

Sorry!  Take another look.

The two infected red cells in this field are both enlarged and the parasites show characteristic features.  Even though the film is not the best stained we have ever seen, you should still be able to determine the correct identification.  Have another look and try again.
