Plasmodium falciparum?

Correct!  Good effort.

Not always easy with only one parasite, however you were correctly able to identify P.falciparum from the size of the red cell and the characteristics of the delicate ring form.

Plasmodium vivax?

Sorry!  Have another try.

Have another look noting the size of the infected red cell and the size and shape of the delicate ring form (almost marginal!)

Plasmodium ovale?

Sorry!  Try again.

Have another look noting the size of the infected red cell and the size and shape of the delicate ring form (almost marginal!)

Plasmodium malariae?

Sorry!  Have another look.

You correctly noted that the red cell was not enlarged, however try again paying particular attention to the size and shape of the parasite.

Malarial parasites not seen?

Sorry!  Look again.

There is one very fine ring form towards the centre of the field.  Have another look, going back to the Diagnosis section if necessary.
