Plasmodium falciparum?

Take note particularly of the size of the infected red cell, and the size and shape of the parasite.

Plasmodium vivax?

Correct!  Well done.

You obviously noticed that the infected red cell is enlarged and the size and shape of the typical "signet ring" parasite.

Sorry!  Have another try.

You obviously noted that the red cell was enlarged.  Have another look, paying particular attention to the shape of the red cell and the patient history.

Plasmodium malariae?

Sorry!  Have another look.

Take note particularly of the size of the infected red cell, and the size and shape of the parasite.

Sorry!  Try again!

There is one quite distinct parasite in the middle of the field.

Have another look, noting particularly the size and shape of the red cell and the size of the parasite.
