Plasmodium falciparum?

Correct! Very well done!
Even though some of the rings appear much thicker than one might normally expect to see in P. falciparum, this is almost certainly due to the incomplete prophylaxis.

Plasmodium vivax?

Sorry! Have another look.
This is not an easy case and under normal circumstances we would not advocate attempting species identification from a thick film. However, in situations like this, where the patient has been on "incomplete" prophylaxis, it may prove very difficult to find parasites in the thin film.
Have another look and take in to account that the ring forms may appear thicker than normal, due to the prophylaxis.

Malarial parasites not seen?

Sorry!
Even though this is a particularly difficult case for species identification, there are a number of ring forms in this field.
Try again after first refreshing your memory on thick films by referring back to the Teach section.
