Plasmodium falciparum?

Sorry!  Hasve another look.

Note the size of the red cell containing the developing
form and the gametocyte to the left of centre.

Plasmodium vivax?

Correct!

Besides the developing form in the enlarged red cell, did you
correctly identify the gametocyte to the left of centre?

Plasmodium ovale?

Sorry!  A good effort though.

You obviously noted the enlarged infected red cell.  Even though
it is slightly distorted, it is not really a comet form.  Have another
look and note the patient history.  There is also a gametocyte in this field.

Plasmodium malariae?

Sorry!  Have another look.

Note the size of the red cell containing the developing
form and the gametocyte to the left of centre.

Malarial parasites not seen?

Sorry!  Try again!

There are two parasites in this field; a developing form inside
an enlarged red cell and a gametocyte to the left of centre.

Have another look and if necessary refer back to the Diagnosis section as a refresher.
