Plasmodium falciparum?

Correct!

You obviously noted the numerous fine ring forms,
marginal forms and the fact that the red cells are not enlarged.

Plasmodium vivax?

Sorry!  Have another look.

Note that the red cells are not enlarged and that the
ring forms are very delicate with some marginal forms.

Plasmodium ovale?

Sorry!  Have another look.

Note that the red cells are not enlarged and that the
ring forms are very delicate with some marginal forms.

Plasmodium malariae?

Sorry!  Have another look.

You correctly noted that the red cells were not enlarged, however these
ring forms are much more delicate than one would expect to see in P. malariae.
Go back and have another look.  Watch out for marginal forms.

There are several parasites in this field.
Go back and have another look.  Try to pick
out the salient features and try to identify the species.
