
Phlebotomy Training Course
The Division of Laboratory Medicine offers a
six-week Phlebotomy
Training Course, which is run three times a year.
The course consists of two weeks of full time study, followed by an
exam. A level of competency must be reached before the trainee can move
on to four weeks of part-time practical experience.
On completion of the course, students will be skilled in all methods of
blood collection. They will also display competency in other types of
pathology specimen collection including urines, swabs and skin scrapes.
Interested applicants do not need previous medical experience, but they
must have good communication skills and a genuine interest in working
with people.
