Haematology

Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) provides a comprehensive range of tertiary level clinical and laboratory services.

Clinical service management includes:

  • general haematologic illness (anaemia, ITP, haematologic manifestations of generalised disease and Gauchers’ disease)
  • haematologic malignancies (Hodgkins’ disease, lymphoma, acute and chronic leukemia and myeloma)
  • disorders of haemostasis and thrombosis (haemophilia, peri-operative assessment, von Willebrand disease, deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism)

RPH has a dedicated thrombosis and haemostasis Service (including the State Adult Haemophilia Service). Plasmapheresis services are provided for haematologic and non-haematologic patients.

There is a 24-hour service for urgent assessment of acutely unwell patients, and RPH has an extensive range of laboratory haematology services, including a number of state-wide speciality laboratory services.
