The Department of Cardiothoracic surgery at Royal Perth Hospital treats people with diseases of the heart, lungs, thoracic aorta, oesophagus and chest wall. It is also the surgical office of the West Australian Heart and Lung Transplant Programme.

There are 4 cardiothoracic surgeons operating at Royal Perth, perfoming around 300 cardiac surgeries each year, including 15 transplants.

Cardiothoracic surgeons at Royal Perth Hospital work with specialists in cardiology, Respiratory Medicine, Medical Oncology and other areas to provide tertiary level care for adults with cardiothoracic diseases.
