Acute Rheumatology
ACUTE RHEUMATOLOGY (WSC) AND REHABILITATION RHEUMATOLOGY (SPC):
RPH Department of Rheumatology provides a full inpatient and outpatient service at both Wellington & Shenton Park Campuses. The medical staff include 5 consultants, 2 advanced trainees and 2 junior medical staff. Our outpatient services include both general rheumatology and sub-specialty clinics. A clinical nurse is working in both of these sub-specialty clinics (Scleroderma/SLE and Severe Arthritis Clinic). This initiative provides improved patient care through support and education. We are maintaining an active database which will provide a basis for quality assurance and other projects The Department engages in teaching at an undergraduate and postgraduate level. The Advanced Training programme underwent a site accredition in 2005 with reaccreditation to occur in 5-years time. The Department is active in clinical research through the Goatcher Clinical Research Unit which currently has several clinical trials. Developing and supporting investigator-driven research is a priority for the Department and to achieve this aim one of the consultant staff has a joint appointment with UWA |
