Royal Perth Hospital finalists in WA Health Excellence Awards

October 15, 2015

Congratulations to the Service 3 clinicians from the Royal Perth Hospital Mental Health Unit who have been named as one of four finalists in the Improving Service Delivery category for the 2015 WA Health Excellence Awards.

Nominated for their Enhance Project, the team has implemented a new model of care for patients with Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.

Project Coordinator Alicia Wilson said the new model of care has resulted in significant improvements to the care of patients with Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder, reducing the average length of stay and the number of patient readmissions.

“By increasing the collaboration of patients in their own care plan and encouraging them to access more psychological therapy, patients have experienced greater satisfaction with their care,” Alicia said.

“Through the Enhance Project the Mental Health Unit has been able to accommodate 154 more inpatient admissions and treat 90 more consumers over a 12-month period,” Alicia said

“It is very exciting for the team to be recognised for their hard work and the benefits this program is bringing to consumers.”

The WA Health Excellence Awards acknowledge outstanding achievements in the WA public health sector, with winners announced at an awards dinner on 22 October 2015
