RPH researchers receive Targeted Research Fund grants

November 11, 2013

Two Royal Perth Hospital researchers are among nine recipients of Targeted Research Fund grants across Western Australia.

In a statement released by the Minister for Health, Dr Kim Hames, nine projects will share in $1.7 million worth of research funding to address issues that impact on the health of Western Australians.

The two RPH projects selected were:

  • Professor Tomas Corcoran – A model of preoperative computer-assisted remote assessment, triage and management.
  • Associate Professor Andrew Redfern – Assessment of breast density as a potential surrogate for efficacy of adjuvant endocrine therapy in early breast cancer.

The research grant comes shortly after Professor Corcoran was awarded the Journal of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care’s Best Paper Award in 2012.

“The nine successful projects were chosen from 50 applications following a rigorous selection process.” said Dr Hames.

“I congratulate the recipients and am optimistic that many West Australians will benefit from their work in the future.”
