Congratulations to the Royal Perth Hospital projects announced as winners at the recent 2016 WA Health Excellence Awards! 

Category - Developing sustainable solutions for out-of-hospital healthcare

Hospital in the Home Telehealth - Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, Home Intravenous Antibiotics Service.

The team was acknowledged for their project which allows regional patients of WA to receive intravenous antimicrobial therapy by their local healthcare provider, using Telehealth. By using this service delivery method the team have been able to save 2261 bed days at Royal Perth Hospital over a five year period.

Category - Innovative solutions

The combined Bedside Risk Assessment (CoBRA) Audit: The royal journey.

The CoBRA team were recognised for their revolutionary audit process which has been able to incorporate 155 audit metrics into a single, easy to use bedside assessment tool. This method has been able to triple the volume of data previously collected, delivering more than 4000 audits per month. 

Royal Perth Hospital had six finalists across five categories in this year’s WA Health Excellence Awards. All teams should be very proud of making the list of finalists.
