Congratulations to Royal Perth Hospital researcher Dr Frank Sanfilippo who was awarded a research grant in the latest round of Heart Foundation research funding.

Dr Sanfilippo was one of only three WA Health researchers to be awarded the Foundation’s Vanguard Grants. This grant is provided for projects which test the feasibility of innovative concepts in public health or health services.

Dr Sanfilippo, a senior pharmacist at Royal Perth Hospital said he would use his grant to undertake a linked data project.

“It will investigate the minimum level of adherence to prescribed medication by heart disease patients before their health outcomes are compromised,” Dr Sanfilippo said.

"The study will also develop a method to measure adherence to a medication regimen in data from the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.”
